About The Light Edit

The Light Edit is an independent guide to lighting at home. We write about the things that make the difference between a room that simply has lights and a room that feels right at night: where a pendant should hang, which bulb suits which fitting, how brass, leather and concrete look after ten years, and how to layer light in each room.

We write for people renovating, building or just replacing a tired fitting, and we keep things practical: measurements in centimetres, Australian fittings and terms, and plain explanations of the numbers printed on a bulb box.

What we do not do

We do not sell lights, take payment to feature products or run sponsored posts. When we mention a product type or a design, it is because it illustrates the point being made.

A note on safety

In Australia, fixed electrical work, including installing or moving a light fitting, must be done by a licensed electrician. Our guides help you plan; the wiring is a job for a professional.

About this domain

This address once belonged to a Sydney lighting and product design studio, which has since moved on under a different name. The Light Edit is a new and independent project. It is not affiliated with that studio or its current business, and it does not sell or represent their designs.
